Chuck Richardson has been volunteering in amateur football since 1983. Chuck led the charge in 1995 to create an alumni association at Lawrence Park CI in Toronto (known as the LPFAA). This was not Chuck’s first foray into organized football but it proved to be the most important, with a future beyond just Lawrence Park. It was in the late 1990’s that troubles in the Toronto Board of Education led to “work to rule” and the Wildcats team was born, continuing to give players a chance to enjoy football outside of the high school season.
Chuck had the vision and drive to see beyond one school and beyond the odds and built a team of players from across the city. The Wildcats were one of the founding members to join the OVFL and grew from one team to three. He has most recently has again pushed for partnerships & growth with the North York Grisly to develop the younger ages to expand the quality of football experience available to kids in Toronto.
Chuck’s leadership & commitment have helped the Wildcats grow from a high school team to an elite franchise. Chuck has given kids and opportunity to play at various ages, organized countless volunteers, and mentored coaches and players alike. Chuck has pushed for better coaching through skills clinics, common terminology and techniques and a sense of organization across all age categories.
In the process hundreds of young men have been given the chance to play where they would otherwise not. Many Wild Cat alumni have progressed to the CIS level. Chuck has been a firm supporter of the OVFL and over the years has help out on various committees, as of recent, been the visionary of the new OVFL website. |
