John Simas
[ BACK ]

Coach John SimasJohn Simas began his coaching career in 1991 with the Toronto Athletics (semi-pro) team before moving to the Mississauga Wolverines.  John was with the Wolverines for about four years, leaving as the head coach.  John moved to the Mississauga Warriors in 1996 during the days of the Great Lakes Football League where he was the defensive co-ordinator under head coach Ray Roach who was an original founder of the GLFL and made the transition with the team to the OVFL.  Under John’s leadership the Warrior defensive teams broke numerous records – some of which are still unbroken to this day.

John took over the head coaching role when Ray retired from coaching after the 2002 season.  Since he has been head coach of the Mississauga Warriors John’s teams have appeared in the OVFL Championship game four times and winning the Championship 3 times.  The only OVFL coach to archive this mild stone.  Under John’s leadership the Mississauga Warriors have become one of the OVFL premier organizations in the OVFL.  John has coached numerous CIS, NCAA and CFL players including OVFL Hall of Fame players Ray Mariuz and Matt Kudu.  After 20 years of on the field coaching John is directing his focus to the continual improvement of the Mississauga Warriors administratively.
