WILD CARD AND RANKING CALCULATIONS IF TIED
(To Break a Tie for the Wild-card Team or Teams and ranking in the playoffs)
1. If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply the division tiebreaker (see above)
2. If some of the tied clubs are from the same division, apply the division tiebreaker to eliminate all but 1
club from each division and then apply the following steps for the remaining clubs.
3. If the tied clubs are from different division, apply the following steps.
If necessary to break ties to determine the Wild Card teams from each conference and the site of their playoff
games, the following steps will be taken:
Note:
If more than two teams are tied the tiebreaker will be used in the order below until a team is eliminated.
After one team is eliminated then the remaining teams will restart the order of tiebreaker with number 1.
The wildcard tiebreaker steps;
1. Head-to-head competition
2. Most wins in common games (games played against the same opponents).
3. Strength of wins (total wins of all teams defeated added together)
4. Strength of schedule (wins of all teams played added together)
5. Best percentage using total points scored and allowed all games
Percentage = (points scored – points allowed / points allowed x 100)
6. Least points allowed all games combined
7. Coin toss
These teams will be ranked in the playoffs and keep this ranking throughout the playoffs and all further games
(conference semis, conference finals and OVFL championships). These rankings will determine home field
advantage for the playoff games.
This playoff tree will help determine who plays who based on the Playoff Rankings;
